The seventh edition of the Zim Medical and Health Fair held in Harare today kicked off on a high note with several exhibitors and hundreds of members of the public attending the event.
People could be seen trickling in the expo visiting various stands from the time the fair started till it finished. There were companies from the health sector as well as telecommunications, pharmaceutical, herbal medicine, to mention but these few industries exhibiting at the fair.
Speaking to the organizer of the event Shepherd Chakanza said the number of exhibitors that pitched up at the fair was encouraging despite the economic challenges bedevelling the nation.
“The attendance is quite fair given the current economic hardships that we are facing. Its quite a fair attendance,” he said.
He added, “ We have got several companies that are exhibiting mostly coming from within the medical sector and some supporting the medical sector from other extended services providers who are related to the medical sector.”
A key take-away from the fair for visitors according to Chakanza was networking with high profile health professionals.
“It will bring business to them, definitely. We have quite a number of high profile visitors within the medical profession at coordinated conferences. These people are going to be enquiring about what they are going to be supplying with, what business they can partner with various organisations exhibitions in taking forward their businesses,” he noted.
A visitor at one stand who only identified herself as Rumbidzai said the fair afforded her the opportunity to see trending technologies in the health sector.
“I like this event because Im seeing some medical equipment that I never imagined I would see in Zimbabwe,” she said.
There was a conference organised by the Allied Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe which was simultaneously running alongside the fair. It was graced by members of the council alongside students from various institutions as well as technology experts.
