UNICEF Zimbabwe has embarked on an Information Communication Technology (ICT) training program dubbed Technology for Development #T4D in rural Zimbabwe to ensure equitable use of safe drinking water, sanitation and improved hygiene practices.
Through their official Facebook page, Unicef said the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) sector has established #RWIMS(Rural WASH Management Information System) and #Rapidpro in response to the need for accurate and timely up-to date data.
“#RWIMS is a mobile-to-web-based system which captures and stores WASH data in near #real-time providing quick access to national data on WASH infrastructure at all governance levels.
“#Citizens as direct beneficiaries are involved through #Rapidpro. Enabling communities (key informants) to communicate with government extension workers (enumerators), duty bearers, such as village pump mechanics via FREE SMS, to address issues raised!”
