The event will be held from June 27 to 28, 2019 and will attract participants from across the healthcare and health insurance sector. In a statement, AHFoZ said, “The Association for Health Funders of Zimbabwe (AHFoZ) is organising the 3rd HealthCare Fraud workshop. This High Level workshop will attract both local and international speakers.
“The main objective is to raise awareness, demystify and identify ways to eliminate healthcare fraud, waste and abuse. Please save the date for this year’s workshop scheduled for the 27th to the 28th of June 2019. Details pertaining to the venue will be communicated in due course,” said AHFoZ.
At its inaugural healthcare fraud workshop in 2017, stakeholder in the health services sectors bemoaned the lack of specific laws to curb healthcare fraud in Zimbabwe. In discussions and presentations, it was noted that medical aid societies were incurring huge losses through fraud. There was general agreement on the need to address this problem.
It was also noted that key stakeholders in fighting healthcare fraud were medical aid society members, service providers, employees, healthcare funders, auditors, investigators and legislators, with the first three being instrumental in both instigating and fighting fraud.
