The Bulawayo leg at Mpilo Hospital saw about 48 people getting free surgeries with 20 more done at Harare Central Hospital.
In an interview, Operation of Hope chief executive officer Jennifer Trubenbach said they were pleased with the operations done.
“We had 68 surgeries in total that is at Harare central hospital and Mpilo,” she said.
Of the Mpilo surgeries, she said the Mpilo mission went as expected doing 48 complex surgeries.
“The turnout in Mplio was wonderful. We did 48 surgeries but they were complex surgeries and they took between three and four hours. So we are not interested big numbers. We look at what we can do in the lives of the patients so they can go to school, to church,” said Trubenbach.
Meanwhile, Operation of Hope alongside Stanbic Bank, and Schweppes helped fix three anesthetic machines which needed servicing.
“And along with Operation of Hope, Stanbic Bank, Schweppes and both hospitals three anesthetic machines were serviced and are now up and running smoothly. The amount required was US$12 000,” said Trubenbach.
Around 20 medical personnel from the US based Operation of Hope Foundation conducted the operations alongside their Zimbabwean counterparts.
