Midwives Conference On Next Week

ALL is set for the annual Midwives Conference to be held in Victoria Falls on October 25 this year.

Zimbabwe Confederation of Midwives chairperson Dr Lillian Dodzo told HealthTimes the conference will bring over 300 participants under one roof.

“Participants will be over 300 midwives and partner representatives from all the provinces,” she said.

The event looks at various issues affecting members of the profession in their contribution towards Universal Health Coverage.

“To be discussed are midwifery related issues such as quality nursing care,sharing of best practices through scientific paper presentations, paediatric nutrition and medical abortions and Post Abortion Care in Zimbabwe and feedback on National Maternal and Perinatal Deaths Surveillance and  Response reports for 2016-2018,” Dr Dodzo said.

The event’s theme is ‘Midwives leading the way for equity and quality in achieving universal health coverage’.

Health Service Board chairperson Dr Paulinus Sikhosana will officiate the conference.

There are over 8 000 registered midwives in Zimbabwe at the moment.
