THE Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS) has appointed Ms Rouzeh Eghtessadi as its new Executive Director effective, November 1, 2019.

Ms Rouzhe brings to SAfAIDS an array of expertise in the areas of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), gender rights, HIV and Gender Based Violence (GBV).
In a statement, Mr Cleophas Makoni, SAfAIDS Board of Trustees Chairperson said Ms Rouzeh emerged victorious and fit for the post following an extensive and rigorous recruitment process, led by the SAfAIDS Board of Trustees.
Ms. Eghtessadi is a public health specialist, with over 20 years of service in Africa across social justice, clinical, health promotion and broader human development sectors.
“Her professional passion spans promoting gender justice and sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Her work has pivoted advancing rights and dignity of young people, women and key populations; through policy advocacy; community systems strengthening; leadership mentoring and organisational development.”
He added that the Board of Trustees wishes Ms. Eghtessadi well in leading SAfAIDS onto even greater heights, in ensuring populations realize their sexual and reproductive health and rights, and are free from the burden of HIV, GBV and related health and development issues.
