PRESIDENT Emerson Mnangawa has announced that churches are now allowed to reopen but following strict social distancing and Covid-19 guidelines.

In a national address on the state broadcaster, President Mnangagwa said the church was part of the essential services and the country needed spiritual healing. He also declared Monday, 15 June as the Presidential National Day of Prayer and Fasting
I wish to acknowledge that our church leaders are essential personnel in preventing the spread of the Coronavirus.
“Going forward gatherings for the purpose of worship not exceeding 50 congregates and observing all prescribed social distancing requirements are allowed throughout our nation,” said the President.
“Relating the National |Day of Prayer and Fasting, the President said on the day he will host a church service at State House in Harare that will be attended by church leaders from various denominations and broadcast to the public via live broadcast on ZBC, ZTN and social media streams. On this day, from 10 am to 12 pm, I invite the whole Nation to join me and Church leaders from various denominations, via live broadcast on ZBC, ZTN and social media streams, for a church service which I shall host at State House.”
He added that congregants were now allowed to father but in small groups not exceeding 50 people.
