273 New COVID-19 Cases & Three Deaths Recorded Today

ZIMBABWE today recorded 273 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number cases recorded the the pandemic was reported in Zimbabwe to 1362.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) daily sitrep, these new cases include returnees from South Africa (12), Mozambique (1) and 260 local cases who are isolated.

Due to a backlog of sample processing at NTBRL, Bulawayo Province has reported 231 cases today which were collected over the last seven days but were not processed.

“These cases will be distributed in the Epi-Curve according to dates the samples were collected.  Thirty (30) recoveries were reported by Mash East Province (25) and Manicaland (5).  Today we regret to report three (3) deaths; two at community level and one at facility level. These deaths occurred in Bulawayo Province. The community deaths were detected during routine post mortem as part of our COVID-19 surveillance.”

Today 1156 ROT screening tests and 492 PCR diagnostic tests were done. The cumulative number of tests done to date is 97 508 (58 392 RDT and 39 116PCR).  Since the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak on 20 March 2020, the total number of confirmed cases is 1362; recovered 425, active cases 914 and 23 deaths.
