Cabinet applauds positive uptake of the Sinopharm vaccine

CABINET has commended citizens for responding to government’s call of getting vaccinated.

Senator Monica Mutsvangwa, Minister of Information and Broadcasting services told a post cabinet media briefing that here has been a great response by the people on Zimbabwe is the uptake of the Sinopharm vaccine.

Cabinet wishes to inform the public that the COVID-19 rollout programme is well on course, with a total of 34 400 people vaccinated country wide as of day 12 of the campaign. Progress has been registerd in receiving the second donation of 200 000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine from China, a donation of 75 000 doses of the inactivated Covaxin from India, and another donation of 20 000 doses of Sputnik-V vaccine from Russia,” Mutsvangwa said.

Mutsvangwa also added that all companies intending to procure vaccines for their employees must only procure registered vaccines in Zimbabwe. These vaccines include Covaxin from India, Sputkin-V from Russia, Sinopharm and Sinovac from China.

Zimbabwe is one of the first countries to receive the Sinopharm vaccine and there has been a great response in its uptake despite  the myths that has been associated with it.
