Commenting on the situation on the ground, Epidemiologist, Dr Grant Murewanhema said despite the growing number of cases and deaths, there were reports of people who had confirmed COVID-19 but were still moving around.

Second day of over 2000 cases and it’s the deaths that are depressing. As one can see, all provinces continue to report very high numbers of cases. In the meantime, lets continue to were masks, physically distance and wash hands. Too many reports of people with confirmed COVID-19 refusing to self-isolate, this is selfish and dangerous and irresponsible,” said Dr Grant.

He added that Self Isolation was for public protection and lasts 10 days if one is symptomatic and 3 days after disappearance of symptoms.

“Not abiding by self-isolation is a reason for one to be institutionalized if reported. Let’s all play our part in breaking the chains of transmission and protecting our communities.”
