ZIMBABWE’S child marriage woes have reached dire levels having more than 1 million married before the age of 18 with 241 000 of these getting betrothed before they turned 15.

This emerged in a latest UNICEF report on Child Marriages across the world. Zimbabwe’s statistical profile according to Unicef showed that Matebeleland north was rife with child marriages.
“Zimbabwe is home to over 1 million child brides; 1 in 3 young women were married in childhood,” said Unicef.
