Orthodontics is a dentistry specialty that addresses the diagnosis, prevention, management, and correction of mal-positioned teeth and jaws. Dr Anthony Chinhara started off as a medical laboratory scientist and worked at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals as a clinical biochemist before proceeding to the United States for his Masters degree.

Speaking at the launch, Dr Chinhara said the move has been motivated by the shortage of specialists in Zimbabwe.

At 30-years- old I got accepted at Boston University and trained as a dentist. My intention was to come back home and set up a practice after realizing a shortage of specialists in Zimbabwe and there was no orthodontist in the country except a missionary who was working at a low pace.

“I then coordinated with a group of dentists in town before deciding to build my own centre after acquiring the property from Dairibord Zimbabwe.  I like to serve my country and improve the health delivery system that is why we also have a pharmacy here and it’s basically a one stop shop,” said Chinhara.

The state of the art medical centre is well equipped and it serves the Northern suburbs but opened it’s doors to people from all walks of life a fortnight ago.

The official launch was graced by reputable medical practitioners and several captains of industry.
