NAC unveils World Aids Day 2022 Theme, Song and Logo

The National AIDS Council (NAC) on Wednesday unveiled the theme, logo and song ahead of this year’s World AIDS Day commemorations to be held on December 1, 2022.
Addressing the press, NAC chief executive officer Dr Benard Madzima said this year’s commemorations will be held in Marondera.
“Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen. It is my pleasure to welcome you all to the home of the national response to HIV and AIDS.
“As you are aware the World AIDS Day commemoration is tomorrow at Rudhaka Stadium in Marondera.
“As part the commemorations pre-launch activities and in line with tradition, we are today gathered to launch the 2022 theme, theme logo and theme song. It is vital that we publicly announce the theme and unveil the theme logo as well as the theme song to give the annual campaign the much-needed identity,” he said.
He also said the theme ‘Equalise’ was arrived at with communities at heart.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the global World AIDS Campaign theme for 2022 is, Equalise. As usual, our teams went out to gather community views for localizing the theme and developing campaign messages. That process allows for local ownership of the theme so that communities can identify with it and promote it,” Dr Madzima added. “As Mr. Govere mentioned, the global theme is now supported by the local pay-off line: A-E-I-O-U, which as he explained encapsules key elements of Access, Empower, Inclusion, Opportunities and Upholding of Human Rights.
Todays launch is a culmination of several months of hard work by various partners, who have contributed in cash and kind towards the design and production of the theme logo and theme song.”
Dr Madzima also commended the stakeholders for putting their time and effort to ensure the WAD commemorations are a success.
“NAC is very pleased with the broad participation in the planning process by various sectors we have people from government, private sector, public sector, NGOs, donors, CBOs, FBO, MIPA organisations and other sectors who have sacrificed their time and resources to make this years World AIDS campaign a rainbow and successful process,” he said.
