Parirenyatwa Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Aspect Maunganidze reflected on how the health to alleviate the pressure exerted on the nation by the novel disease.
“Government through leadership of His excellency President Dr ED Mnangagwa we managed to mobilise funds and set up this major unit in the country.
“We are honored as Parirenyatwa to be the first institution that ADDI has collaborated with in Zimbabwe to this magnitude. The partnership is commendable and it benefits the public. We will make good use of every equipment. Every bit, every peace is needed,” he said.
“The process that we went through was to make sure we get the appropriate and needed equipment. Unlike other donations where one decides on what to give, our engagement with ADDI shows that they are giving to their own people and Africa is not a dumping ground. Specifications were sent. Our teams had to go through everything to choose the best for our people.”
Obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Grant Murewanhema said this donation provided an opportunity for future synergies where initiatives can be done to improve the health sector.
“We are honored to be part of this fundraising program by doing the least that we can for our country especially going through the trying times of COVID-19 . Everybody has a role to play not just during the COVID-19 but even during the future,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Brighton Chireka, Dr Murewanhema, Dr Kennedy Nyamande (based in SA), Dr Kazhila, Liliosa Chambwera (based in Australia), among others were involved in the selection and procurement of what was needed at the hospital.
