The Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a Belarusian health products research agency which seeks to foster innovation in Zimbabwe’s pharmaceutical sector.
The MoU was signed in Belarus with the Republican Unitary Enterprise Center for Examinations and Tests in Health Service (RUE-CETH) Belarus.
“MCAZ is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Republican Unitary Enterprise Center for Examinations and Tests in Health Service (RUE-CETH) Belarus.
“This significant agreement marks a new chapter of collaboration and cooperation between our two organizations.
“The MoU establishes a framework for joint efforts in enhancing regulatory standards, ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicines, and fostering innovation in the pharmaceutical sector,” said the Authority in a statement.
According to the Authority, the collaboration intends to improve access to top quality medical products.
“This partnership aims to leverage the strengths and expertise of both MCAZ and RUE-CETH to promote public health and improve access to high-quality medical products,” noted MCAZ.
Added MCAZ, “The MoU builds upon the strong historical and friendly relations between Zimbabwe and Belarus. This partnership will not only enhance the safety and efficacy of medicines in both countries but also promote the development of the pharmaceutical industry, and create opportunities for investment and trade.”
MCAZ Director–General Mr. Richard Rukwata, said this partnership is an important milestone in building capacity within the regulators in both countries and ensuring world-class medicines and health products regulation for the benefit of citizens.
“We are excited to embarkon this partnership with RUE-CETH Belarus. This collaboration will enable us to share knowledge, enhance regulatory practices, and ultimately benefit the citizens of both countries by ensuring access to safe and effective medicines,” said Mr. Rukwata.
