SOUTH Africa has recorded two mortalities who succumbed to the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) making it the second Southern African country after Zimbabwe.

South Africa’s Health Minister Dr Zwelini Mkhize this morning announced that one died at a Private Institution with the other at a Public Health facility.
“This morning, we wake South Africans up with sad news that we now have our first deaths
resulting from COVID-19.
“These two deaths occurred in the Western Cape. One at a Private Hospital and the other
at a Public Hospital,” he said.
The SA Health Minister said further details will be given later in the day.
“We will give more details later on, when we announce the latest confirmed COVID-19 cases,
which have increased from yesterday’s number and have tipped the 1000 mark,” said Dr Mkhize.
