According to sources privy to the developments, the midwives are refusing to enter the hospital premises until the issue of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been resolved.
Apparently the midwives are outside as we speak, they are refusing to enter the buildings following the death of the Matron. The Matron was on duty on Sunday then she started feeling sick. After getting tested, her result came out positive and she got admitted. Unfortunately, she died today.
“When she died, all the other midwives have downed tools. The problem is that we don’t have adequate PPE here. The only PPE we have are Plastic Aprons and surgical masks and yet we are supposed to be wearing N95 Masks and heavy gears so we won’t get it unless we get the PPE we demand,” said the source.
