Dr John Mangwiro, the Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care who was on a tour of health facilities in Victoria falls disclosed government’s plan that a total of 70 000 doses were set aside for the exercise to be launched on Wednesday.
The vaccination exercise is significant and will make Victoria Falls the first city in the country to get such an intervention. We want tourists to become confident that it is safe to come back to Victoria Falls. We had to take a decision knowing the significance of this town which happens to be the tourist capital and Zimbabwe’s newest city,” Dr Mangwiro said.
Dr Maxwell Hove, the Chief Director Curative Services in the Ministry of Health and Child Care stressed that the vaccines are already in Bulawayo waiting for the centres that are being around the resort city.
