In a bid to award journalists and encourage them to report better on health the Health Communicator Forum of Zimbabwe with backing from HIFC will honour the best health journalists in the country.

During the awards journalists will be judged on best Covid 19 coverage and Best HIV/AIDS coverage amongst other categories.
Speaking to Health times, the HCF Chairperson, Anna Miti said the awards are important as health journalists have been working really hard to keep reporting health in a very difficult environment fraught with misinformation and other challenges.
The awards will be based on submission which will then be judged by a team of adjudicator. The broad categories are best Covid 19 reporter and best HIV/AIDS reporter with 2 runners up in each category. The winners will walk away with a cash price,” said Miti.
In addition, Miti said submissions are accepted for any story written between 1st of January 2022 to 30 October 2022. Deadline of submission is 18 November 2022 and winners will be announced at a ceremony on the 2nd of December 2022 as part of World Aids Day commemorations.
Entries for the wards are being submitted via email to healthcommunicatorsforum@gmail.com, annamiti@gmaul.com, kathymanase@gmail.com and physically at Number 38 Harvey Brown, Milton Park in Harare.
The forum was launched in 2021 in a move that is set to capacitate journalists through networking with medical and public health experts as well as other regional and international health journalists network.
