In a major step forward for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) advocacy in Zimbabwe, My Age Zimbabwe has officially become a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). This milestone solidifies the organization’s role in championing youth-centered SRHR initiatives and expanding access to essential health services.
After joining IPPF as a collaborative partner in 2023, My Age has now assumed full member status in 2025. This development places the youth-led organization within a global network of SRHR-focused associations working towards a common goal: ensuring that all individuals, regardless of age, gender, or background, have the right to make informed choices about their reproductive health.
Becoming a member of IPPF brings several strategic benefits for My Age, including access to unrestricted funding, capacity-building programs, and the exchange of best practices with other member associations worldwide. This collaboration will enable My Age to strengthen its programs and tailor them more effectively to the unique needs of Zimbabwean youth.
My Age’s journey has always been about empowering young people to take control of their sexual and reproductive health. Through our programs and outreach, we have provided young people with comprehensive education on critical health issues. Now, as an IPPF member, we are even more prepared to expand these services and make an even bigger impact,” said Onward Gibson, My Age Zimbabwe.
Beyond financial and operational support, membership in IPPF enhances My Age’s advocacy capacity, providing a stronger platform to push for policies that promote comprehensive sexuality education, youth-friendly health services, and the elimination of barriers that hinder young people’s SRHR.
In a challenging funding climate where many organizations struggle to sustain their initiatives, IPPF’s commitment to its members ensures that My Age can continue expanding its impact. The federation prioritizes funding projects that serve marginalized and vulnerable groups, reinforcing My Age’s mission to empower young people with knowledge and services that support their well-being.
This official membership not only strengthens My Age’s operational and advocacy efforts but also signals a new era for SRHR in Zimbabwe. With the backing of IPPF, the organization is well-positioned to drive transformative change, ensuring that young people across the country can access vital health services and make informed decisions about their reproductive health.
