SOFT beverages manufacturer, Coca-Cola Zimbabwe has donated an amount to the tune of US$100 000 to the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society to help fight the spread of the corona virus in Zimbabwe.

The support will be used to procure the much needed equipment such as rapid test kits and personal protective equipment. Presenting the donation, Coca-Cola Zimabwe Country Manager Mr Milidzani Ncube said In times like these, unity must prevail so as to win the fight against this monster that is threatening human existence. “
Today we are presenting The Coca-Cola Foundation’s donation of USD100 000 to he Zimbabwe Red Cross Society to help fight the spread of the corona virus in Zimbabwe. The support will be used to procure the much needed equipment such as rapid test kits and personal protective equipment.
“In addition to this contribution, the Coca-Cola system is sponsoring public service announcements (PSA) in the media to create more awareness on the pandemic and on proper hygiene to reduce the spread of the disease,”said Mr Ncube.
He also applauded their sister company Delta for recently donating $6 million to the government of Zimbabwe and added that Delta together with Schweppes Zimbabwe limited were working closely with the City of Harare in supplying free treated water to disadvantaged members of our society.Mutare Bottling Company have assisted with provision of PPE to medical staff and also provision of Health Insurance provision to medical staff.
“The world is facing the most difficulty time and uncertainty caused by the spread of Covid-19 virus. The Corona Virus has brought the global world to standstill. About 2,4 million people have been affected and 166 000 have died from the virus. In Zimbabwe, as at 20 April 2020, 25 cases have been recorded, including three deaths.
“We have done it before, and we can still do it now. Everyone’s effort counts- from individual,corporate,religious organisations and governments. As the Coca-Cola System in Zimbabwe, which comprise of The Coca-Cola Company (TCC), Delta Beverages, Mutare Bottling Company and Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited,have invested towards mass communication, hygiene and sanitisation as well as donations to assist the health care of workers and people on the front-line and the less privileged.”
He also urged all stakeholders to heed the call by the government to come on board and assist in the fight against the pandemic.
“We also appeal to our stakeholders and customers to abide by the lockdown measures being implemented by authorities and practice health and safety measures recommended by the World Health Organization. These include, but not limited to practicing social distancing, regular washing of hands with soap or alcohol based sanitizers and use of personal protective wear where necessary.
