Zim Records Jump in COVID-19 Deaths And Hospitalizations

Zimbabwe last night recorded 14 new COVID-19 deaths, making it the highest death toll recorded since the Omicron variant was reported three weeks ago.

This also comes after the country has been recording highest numbers in new infections since the detection of the highly infectious Omicron variant this December.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care(MoHCC) daily situational of 15 December 2021 the country recorded 4367 local cases and 14 deaths.

Meanwhile, a total of 18 253 received their first dose of vaccine bringing cumulative for first dose to 3 999 170 while14747 received their second dose brining cumulative for second dose to 3013 385 as at 16.00 hrs.

As at 14 December 2021 at 15.00hrs there were 401 hospitalized cases with 79 new admissions, asymptomatic 31, mild to moderate 328, severe 37 and 5 in intensive care unit. Among 12690 tests done (Positivity today was 34.4%, 641 recoveries and the national recovery rate falls to 72% and active cases goes up 46 378. As of today Zimbabwe has recorded 182 cases , 130 920 recoveries and 4759 deaths
