#JUSTIN: Bulawayo Teenager Succumbs To COVID-19

A 19 year old Bulawayo male has become the latest victim of COVID-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths in Zimbabwe to 24.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) daily COVID-19 update, 58 cases tested positive for the virus today and these include 10 from South Africa and 48 local cases.

32 of the local cases are contacts of known confirmed cases. Investigations are underway to establish the source of infection for the other cases.

“13 recoveries were reported by the following province. Mashonaland Central (6), Ma North (3), Mash East (2) and Manicaland (2). To regret to report one death at facility level in Bulawayo province. The death is a 19 year-old male who tested positive for COVID-19 today and had co-morbidities,” said the sitrep.

Bulawayo has of late become the epicenter of COVID-19 infections amidst indications that the province recorded 231 cases yesterday and three deaths.

Today a total 1214 Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDT) screening tests and 979 PCR tests were done.

“The cumulative number of tests done to date is 99 701. Since the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak on 20 March 2020 in Zimbabwe, the total number of confirmed cases is 1420, recovered 438 and active cases 958.”
