Journalist Donates Food Hampers To Starving Epworth Households

ONLINE news publication, ZimboLive.TV Journalist, Brighton Gumbodete today donated an assortment of food hampers to vulnerable households in Epworth, Harare.

According to the World Food Programme (WFP), Zimbabwe is likely to record a sharp increase in the number of urban households in need of food assistance due to the drought induced hunger. The COVID-19 induced lockdown has also disrupted livelihoods and their capacity to generate income and bring food on the table.

In interview with HealthTimes, Gumbodete said it was their charity arm, Devine Might Foundation International’s initiative and they were still conducting an assessment in Epworth and other communities to identify more potential beneficiaries.

Today we have managed to distribute to five families who had nothing to eat in Epworth. The other one is mentally ill and i was just told by another resident the situation when i was distributing to other families.

“I had to go and give. I normally partner with guys outside the country to help the less privileged especially in these times of the pandemic. Before distributing hampers, I visited the places and asked around for families with greatest need and those who need urgent help and then go and assess the situation on the ground,” said Gumbodete.

He added that o next week , they are targeting to distribute more food hampers to more families.They have also set their eyes on Ushewekunze,Glenview and some parts of Harare and some will receive their hampers in town.

▪2×packs Royco
▪1×4ply Tissues
▪1×2L Mazoe
▪1×Baked beans
▪1×500g powdered milk
▪1×tea leaves
▪1×300ml Vaseline
▪1×500g dried beans
▪1×1kg Salt
▪1×500g Sunjam
▪1×Pack Candles
▪1×carton Matches
▪Tomatoes
