CHILDREN and young adults with disabilities from Mazowe, Chitungwiza, Harare, Masvingo and Zaka received wheelchairs from a charity organization named Right to Mobility last Saturday.

The organization still in its infancy, managed to source these wheelchairs for the children with disabilities from various individuals in the United Kingdom.
Set up by one Yvonne Chikasha also known as Mai Todaishe based in Canada, the organization has been using Facebook as a platform to mobilize resources for persons with disabilities.
Explaining how this organisation came about, Mr Donald Chikasha, her brother and Zimbabwe focal person, he said Mai Todaishe helped a man who was involved in a hit and run accident needing surgery.
This person named Phineas through social “media made his Good Samaritan, Mai Todaishe known which saw many requesting help. She then networked and partnered with others in various countries who donate items to her organisation for handing over to those in need,” he said.
He said these wheelchairs came at the nick of time when many of the recipients did not have any proper wheelchair with one using a wheelchair with a seat made of wood.
We handed over 13 wheelchairs which were sourced from the UK. These wheelchairs are useful and usable for movement,” said Mr Chikasha.
Mai Sylvia, a carer for her 22 year old daughter said she was very grateful for the wheelchair which came at a time she didnt have anything to use for mobility.
“I am very happy for this gift because it came when I didn’t have anything to use for my daughter. I am a vendor and have been fending for myself and my daughter since banishment from my ex-husband’s family,” she said.
She encouraged parents to allow their children with disabilities to play with others.
” I have to say that it is unfair for guardians or parents to hide their children with disabilities indoors. I just want to say to these people that let the children out to play with others,” said Mai Sylvia.
