In an effort to enhance efficiency and professionalism within the health insurance and medical aid sectors, the Association of Healthcare Funders of Zimbabwe (AHFoZ) has launched a Certificate of Proficiency in Health Insurance in collaboration with the Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe (IIZ).
Speaking at the launch event, AHFoZ Board Chairman Stanford Sisya described the partnership as a milestone in the evolution of Zimbabwe’s medical aid industry.
The Certificate of Proficiency is not just another qualification; it is a transformative learning initiative designed to address the unique challenges and opportunities within our healthcare funding sector,” Mr. Sisya said. “It represents a shared vision to elevate the standards of professionalism, expertise, and service delivery in the medical aid industry.”
The initiative arrives at a critical time for Zimbabwe’s medical aid sector, which plays an essential role in ensuring access to quality healthcare for millions of citizens. As the industry evolves, it faces increasing complexity in healthcare funding, regulations, treatment protocols, and member expectations. According to Mr. Sisya, the new certification will equip professionals with the necessary skills to navigate these challenges and drive innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.
The Certificate of Proficiency program is expected to bring several benefits to Zimbabwe’s healthcare system, including improved service delivery, heightened professionalism, and increased adaptability in a fast-changing environment.
“The program will equip participants with a deep understanding of healthcare funding principles, insurance concepts, and risk management strategies,” Mr. Sisya said. “This will not only enhance individual careers but also raise the overall standard of professionalism within the industry.”
A better-trained workforce, he added, will lead to more efficient and customer-centric medical aid services, strengthening public trust and confidence in the industry.
Designed to align with international best practices, the program aims to keep Zimbabwe’s medical aid industry competitive on a global scale, potentially attracting investments and partnerships beyond the country’s borders.
Beyond skill-building, the initiative will foster collaboration and networking among professionals in the sector. The curriculum encourages critical thinking and innovative problem-solving, enabling industry players to develop creative solutions to challenges facing the healthcare system.
By bringing together experts across the field, the program will serve as a platform for knowledge-sharing and collective progress.
Mr. Sisya urged industry leaders to embrace the initiative, encouraging professionals to enroll in the program and invest in the development of Zimbabwe’s medical aid sector.
“Together, we can build a future where every Zimbabwean has access to affordable, high-quality healthcare, supported by a robust and efficient medical aid system,” he said.
