In a strong show of commitment to charity and national development, the River Valley Group of companies has pledged to support health facilities and extend assistance to vulnerable communities in Midlands Province.

The pledge was made during the Midlands Provincial Independence Ball held on Friday in Kwekwe.

The annual event, hosted by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon Owen “Mudha” Ncube, is aimed at raising funds for vulnerable communities across the province.

The initiative aligns with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of leaving no one and no place behind, a development approach focused on inclusive economic growth and infrastructure development as Zimbabwe works towards upper middle income status by 2030.

The policy promotes grassroots development through devolution and targeted interventions designed to reduce inequality and marginalisation.

As part of the build up to Independence Day celebrations, the Midlands Ball brought together business leaders, corporate partners, politicians, government officials and civil society representatives in a collective effort to support marginalised households and community welfare initiatives, marking 46 years of independence.

River Valley Group’s pledge underscores its commitment to corporate social responsibility and reflects the leadership of Group Chairman Engineer Dr Mncedisi Dube and CEO Ambassador Professor Smelly Dube, who believe the private sector has a critical role in national development beyond business interests.

“Supporting the Midlands Provincial Independence Ball aligns perfectly with our long standing philosophy of giving back to the community,” said Professor Dube.

“We believe in empowering those in need and fostering sustainable development across the province.”

The contribution adds to the company’s record of philanthropy. Since the launch of the provincial charity initiative, River Valley Group has consistently supported programmes aimed at improving livelihoods.

The company is also known for its involvement in community development through scholarships, disaster relief efforts and infrastructure projects.

With this latest pledge, which includes financial support and school fees assistance, River Valley Group reaffirms its commitment to driving positive change and strengthening communities across the province.

“Together, through collective action and generosity, we can build a brighter and more equitable future for all,” said the company’s CEO.
