The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) tomorrow begins a survey to ascertain cholera knowledge levels in the country’s seven provinces.
Amongst the other objectives for the Oral Cholera Vaccine (OCV) Coverage Survey are establishing the cholera prevention and control, Oral Cholera Vaccine coverage rates, and the utilization of sanitation facilities and safe water sources.
“The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) will be undertaking the Oral Cholera Vaccine (OCV) Coverage Survey listing of households exercise from 14th to 22nd March 2024. The listing exercise will be conducted in seven (7) provinces namely; Harare, Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West, Masvingo and Midlands,” ZIMSAT said.
ZIMSTAT said findings from the Survey will guide Government in coming up with robust public health interventions.
“Statistics produced from the survey are critical for policy formulation and decision making relating to public health interventions, human capital development strategies, macroeconomic planning and social programs targeting cholera prevention,” said ZIMSTAT.
The survey, ZIMSTAT notes, will be conducted under the provisions of the Census and Statistics Act [Chapter 10:29].
