While waiting for the announcement of a substantive CEO for the rganisation along with other members of the board , Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo said the names are currently under screening.
Speaking to HealthTimes on the sidelines of a United Arab Emirates donation of hospital equipment last Friday, Dr Moyo described the procedures taken to come up with the board.
“There is a process which has to be followed in the appointment of a NAC board. And it has to be in line with the act,” he said.
He said they are waiting for the completion of the vetting process.
“So once we identify or get submissions from the various bodies which we are supposed to identify members of the NAC we then select and submit for vetting. There has to be a security vetting. That is what we are just waiting for. Once that is done we seek for clearance from His Excellency and the board will be appointed,” said Dr Moyo.
It’s been three months since the Health Minister dismissed the whole National Aids Council (NAC) board over its failure to turn around fortunes of the organisation. The previous NAC board was fired on grounds of corruption
