NBSZ Planning Information and Research Manager Dr Tonderai Mapako told HealthTimes that all their branches have enough stocks to meet the Easter demands.
“We are adequately stocked for the Easter Holidays. We have sufficient blood at all our facilities in five branches and this should be able to take us to independence and Easter,” he said.
The organisation’s Easter Blood collection campaign ends today following a successful Harare Ladies Gala blood drive last Saturday. The Harare Ladies Gala saw NBSZ collect about 100 units out of a target of 150.
“I think that is why we are adequately stocked for the Easter and Independence Holidays,” Dr Mapako added.
The Easter Week campaign began on April 15.
“Join the NBSZ Easter Week campaign happening 15 – 17 April at all NBSZ blood collection static clinics around the country. There is hope of life to someone in your blood donation. Donate blood for a reason and let that reason be to save lives,” tweeted NBSZ.
Since the beginning of the year, the NBSZ has embarked on several blood collection initiatives in a bid to maintain adequate stocks of blood as well as replenish stocks in line with their 2019 target of collecting 108, 405 units of blood.
