THE Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) board has announced the appointment of Mr Richard Rukwata as the organization’s substantative boss.

He headed the medicines and medical devices regulator as interim director general since 2020.
In a statement, the MCAZ Board Chair, Dr Misheck Chiware said Mr Rukwata was deserving of the appointment.
The Board of the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Richard Tendayi Rukwata as the substantive Director-General of the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe. The appointment is with effect from the 4th of January 2023,” said Dr Chiware
Mr. Rukwata is a registered pharmacist with 25 years of experience in healthcare management, regulation of medicines and medical devices, strategic planning, and execution as well as good manufacturing practices of medicines. He also holds qualifications in Law and Business Administration.
“Before his appointment, Richard was the substantive Head of the Licensing and Enforcement Division of the MCAZ and Acting Director-General of the Authority. The Board would like to congratulate Mr. Richard Rukwata on his new appointment.”
