Chitungwiza Hospital moves to contain water crisis

Construction of a 600 000 litre water reservoir at Chitungwiza Central Hospital is well on course with Hospital authorities upbeat they will complete it by year end.

The water reservoir comes to contain the water shortages the Hospital has been battling with over the past years.

Speaking with HealthTimes, Chitungwiza Hospital Clinical Director Dr Jonah Kasule said following consultations, a water reservoir was proposed the best solution to avert the water crisis.

“So we have our water challenges in Chitungwiza Hospital. It’s been there for years. And the administration and so on got together and did consultations.

“We did consultations as what is the best way to solve this problem. And so what we’ve done is we’re building a 600,000 liter water reservoir,” he said.

The reservoir construction began last year.

“We are hoping the construction will be finished before the end of the year. And then we can fill it up and all our water problems will be solved.”

The Hospital had two boreholes sunk in 2017 by Stanbic Bank for cushioning against the dormitory town’s water crisis.
